Anesthesiologist & Food Fanatic

Dr. John Sconzo aka “Docsconz” is an Anesthesiologist in upstate New York with a long held passion for food and all things culinary. That passion gained a voice back in 2003 during the early days of eGullet, and eventually led to his own website, ​Docsconz – Musings on Food and Life​ in 2008. “Doc” nurtured that site for 11 years. Throughout that time into the present, while continuing full-time work as a practicing Anesthesiologist, , Doc co-founded a chapter of Slow Food in the Saratoga Region of upstate New York, helped to create and build (as a member of and Vice President of the founding Board of Directors) the Pitney Meadows Community Farm in Saratoga Springs, and attended, chronicled, and emceed various culinary and Chef’s forums and events around the world. Doc enjoys and promotes quality food and drink, wherever it can be found, both privately and since 2016, as a co-owner of ​Rascal + Thorn - Worldwide Gastronomic Experiences​, a culinary travel and event company specializing in small group, international culinary and spirits tours. He considers himself a culinary enthusiast and channels much of his output into his website,​facebook​, ​Twitter​ and Instagram​ all under the moniker “docsconz” as well as “​rascalandthorn​” on Instagram. Alas, the travel and events project is currently on hold pending significant improvements with the current Covid crisis.
