Terroir & Castello di Potentino

Cucina Povera: An Immersion in Rural Life

April 11 - 14th, 2024

Discover the essence of Cucina Povera through our exclusive Program, at Castello di Potentino - an ancient castle built on an Etruscan site - Monte Amiata.

You will immerse yourself in the heart of this picturesque landscape, where each vista tells a story of rich history and culinary artistry. Unspoiled countryside surrounds the castle, with vines and ancient olive trees dotting the landscape, used for the estate's production of high-quality wine, grappa, and oil.

At Potentino, gastronomy is more than just a meal—it celebrates tradition, sustainability and most of all community. We invite special guests to share with us their flavours from Mexico, Veneto, Albania and Tuscany. Our program is a journey into the heart of rural cuisine, where the farm-to-table approach is not just a trend but a way of life - Cucina Povera.

Cucina Povera at Castello di Potentino is a weekend gathering of food & wine lovers exploring traditional food, farming, and nature.

Join us for this very special weekend.

From Cedi la Strada Agli Alberi

Franco Arminio (b. 1960)

Translated by Sarah Lambert-Porter

We need farmers,

poets, people who know how to make bread,

who love trees and recognize the wind.

More than a year of growth,

it would take a year of attention.

Attention to those who fall, to the sun which is born

and which dies, to the kids who grow up,

attention also to a simple lamppost,

to a peeling wall.

Today to be revolutionary means removing

more than adding, slowing down more than

speeding up,

it means giving value to silence, to light,

to fragility, to sweetness.

From Arminio’s book Cedi la Strada Agli Alberi (Give Way to the Trees)
