ISTANBUL & THE AEGEAN: Turkish Culinary Journey 

For our next virtual culinary exploration, we will highlight Turkey - a country with a vast landscape, four distinct seasons and a history that spans as far back as 11 thousand BCE. The country has a legacy that thrived from complex social, political and cultural interactions within its geography and through this fusion, assimilation and cultural exchange, has developed and become known for its unique cuisine, culinary customs and traditions. 

With an abundance of culture to draw from, we choose to begin our journey by exploring vibrant Istanbul, Turkey’s largest city. Within her walls we’ll discover a melting pot of extravagant flavours, ingredients and culinary techniques. We’ll also explore the Aegean: A stunning coastal region in the South West corner of the country, bordering the Mediterranean. The Aegean ‘merroir’ provides for a bounty of fish and sealife, along with rich soils which provide an abundance of fruits, vegetables, cereals and grains.

Join us as we dive into two distinguished locales, a proud central city, and an enticing Mediterranean oasis, for a taste of what we invite you to someday explore for yourself.
