Kavita Meelu

decolonizing gastronomy

At present Kavita Meelu is based in London researching the intersections of race, power and gastronomy at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. She is currently developing a collaborative education project for people within the food industry, academia and activism dedicated to Decolonizing Gastronomy. 

Over the past six years in Berlin, she created a number of different projects that support young food entrepreneurs to build independent food businesses that challenge the culinary norms of Germany. With a particular focus on markets, migration and culture her projects include:Street Food Thursday, Mother's MotherBurgers & Hip HopSchlachtfestKebabistan, United Street Food, Souk Berlin to name a few. She is also a host on Vice munchies.
