Marcel Shepert

Marcel Shepert has a background in First Nations salmon fisheries as a facilitator, negotiator, mediator and fisheries manager, as well as his relatively recent experience in the growing business of river salmon commercial fisheries. A member of the Wet’suwet’en Nation, he calls Prince George BC his home and has been raised with a profound appreciation for salmon and the role salmon play in our lives.

Marcel is also the owner of his own consulting business in mediation and conflict resolution called Converging Voices Corp. He regularly facilitates the First Nation’s Fraser Salmon Management Forum in BC, is a member of the Pacific Salmon Treaty’s Fraser Panel as well as a former Pacific Fisheries Resource Conservation Council. He is currently Chairman of the Upper Fisheries Conservation Alliance, the Inland Salmon Producers Association, and the River Select Fisheries Cooperative.

He is co-author of the 2004 First Nations Panel report on post-treaty fisheries called Our Place at the Table, aiming to articulate a vision for future fisheries management and allocation. He was also a co-author of River to Plate - a First Nations vision from BC’s river salmon fisheries which marketed river-branded salmon fisheries.
