Miguel Viera
Chef, Fortaleza do Guincho
Miguel Rocha Vieira, 39 years old, was born and lived in Cascais up to to the age of 19 before heading to London to study gastronomy at the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu cooking school. Afterwards, with a solid education and background in classic French cuisine, he worked in top restaurants in England, France and Spain, until he arrived in Budapest in 2008 to open the Costes restaurant, where he won the first (and at that time) only Michelin star in Hungary in 2010. Meanwhile, in June 2015 Miguel opened Costes Downtown – the sister Restaurant of Costes which was awarded a Michelin Star in March 2016 as well.
His performance as a judge in the Masterchef Portugal TV Show earned him the admiration and respect of the general public.
In August 2015 Miguel took charge of the Kitchens at Fortaleza do Guincho, a small Relais Chateaux on the Lisbon Coast.
Vieira is the first Portuguese chef to assume the leadership of one of the most prestigious and influential cuisines in the country.
